Edison – Monome Ninja

Submitted by on August 31, 2010 – 2:58 pm 2 Comments

The video below is Edison, playing the track “Tonka Truck” from his album “All the Information at Hand”.

What is completely remarkable about this track is not just that it’s played entirely on a Monome, but it’s all one-shot sounds, with no looping whatsoever – just ninja-fast button pressing.

Watch and be impressed…

all one shot sounds…
no loops running…
64 buttons…
64 noises…
shot on 2 HD cameras, 720p, 1 live take…
with audio captured right to camera…

Wow. You can buy Edison’s latest music right here.

Anyone know pro tools programs better than me, say I’m writing loops in audio tracks at 120,000 revs, grid lines add up okay, I go down to the midi or instrument / midi tracks and the grid lines all add up, but if I change tempo eg, down to 78,000 those grid lines jump off the page, I can get the loops in okay but going down to the midi or instrument midi tracks, they simply do not fit the grid lines. How do I adjust this so I can write tracks that don’t all go at 120,000 revs. I must be dyslexic when it comes to normal avenues, Course 101 Pro Tools book I find a bit out of my minds depths. Surely someone can explain how to do this in dummies format, nice and simple and real easy, then I can do nice ambient spacy slow intros to tracks that groove out by the end at 120,000 revs and really blow the mind, will eventually have guitars to add to those tracks also. Or point me to a source of information that is written in easy for dummies and intellectually disabled formats. Thanks and Peace always.
