Inside DEVO’s studio

Submitted by on April 21, 2010 – 3:03 pm No Comment

DEVO need absolutely no introduction. Here, the guys at Electric Independence document a rare look inside Devo’s studio, called “UFO”. Mark Mothersbaugh himself gives a tour through the space and shows us some of his favorite (and strangest) synths and circuit bending noisemakers.

The guys even tell us some funny stories of their early Akron days, like the large girls (or “mother hens” as they like to call them) who would circle their equipment to warm it up before playing on those cold Ohio nights.

Our opinions won’t be swayed: even if the irony is thicker than their synths, the super glossy corporate bit is a typically brilliant trick for the campy new-wavers to recapture the tapering imaginations of kids a) weaned on Lady Gaga and b) who only know Devo because Wes Anderson hearts Mark Mothersbaugh.
