The Wicks Looper – Acid Mix

Submitted by on March 8, 2010 – 10:48 am No Comment

If you’re into noise generation, or even if you just like to fiddle with cool little sound gadgets, the Wicks Looper – Acid Mix might be just the thing for you.

Made in Australia by a company called Rarebeasts, the Acid Mix looper is a pretty simple device with only 3 controls: frequency, speed and “write”. You control the frequency of the oscillator, and hold the write button down to sample whatever you’ve got going on. The speed button changes the speed of the loop playback (and sampling) in real time.

It all makes for a pretty fun little device. Here are a couple of videos for the Wicks looper in action:

Cool, huh? I really do think they missed the boat though – if the Acid mix had a button that lets you insert small bits of silence into the sample, you’d be able to make some great funky rhythms. – it reminds me of a boss delay pedal that I used to use in much the same way.

You can buy them at Rarebeast’s shop for $119.
