Korg Monotron vs Korg MS-20
The Korg MS-20 is one of the more coveted vintage synths these days, and as such they fetch some pretty high prices. People like them not only because of their patchability and knob-laden instant-gratification goodness, but also because of the unique sound of the filter and aggressive-sounding oscillators.
As regular readers know, we’re big fans of the Korg Monotron here at SynthGear. It’s cheap, it’s fun, and it’s very easy to modify. Korg claims that the design of the Monotron is loosly based on the MS-20, so how well does a $59 Monotron stack up against a $1600 1979 Korg MS-20?
