Vuvuzela: dancefloor killer?

Submitted by on July 1, 2010 – 8:54 am One Comment

Whether you like it or not (and probably not), the vuvuzela has gone from unknown in much of the western hemisphere to defining noise pollution for the summer of 2010.

In a move that I’m sure has nothing to do with being opportunistic, underground electronic producers Le Zhal have used the vuvuzla as the main theme for a suitably cliché dancefloor banger. Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Vuvuzela has been released on Strangers 2 Love Records and has already received play by Judge Jules and other DJs.

OK, I promise – no more vuvuzela stories.

Not really a new thing here in the West. I played with these as a kid forty years ago in Ontario. Also at my nephew’s football game a couple of years back. There are bright green ones in use at all Saskachewan Rough Rider games.

Not sure about including it in any recorded music, even dance tracks….
