Mantaray iTar: turn an iPad into a digital keytar

Submitted by on June 19, 2010 – 8:05 pm 2 Comments

Franz Keller has come up with Metal frame into which you clip an ipad and/or other music gear, turning it into a keytar.

From their promo material:

Sturdy hand cut plexiglass body holds iPad, Kaoss Pad and Kaossilator* in fully usable, yet safe and secure position. Great for live performance! Now use BOTH hands to play your iPad music apps (instead of wasting one in merely holding the iPad.)

Called the Mantaray iTar, it’s available in custom colors and materials, and is the “World’s first iPad Guitar/DJ frame”. Here’s what it looks like in action:

OK, maybe I’m just not too hip, but Franz, you need a new look dude. You’re making the iTar look more like an iTard.

That being said, I guess you’ve got to sport some sort of crazy look just to complete the package if you’re going to be seen on stage with one of those. Either way, it’s a pretty cool concept, well executed, and will definitely get you nicely in touch with your dorky side.

Right now, the Mantaray iTar can be purchased from Noisebug.net for $200-300.
