RJD2′s Studio
In this video, Ramble John Krohn (better known as the musician/producer RJD2) shows off his incredible home studio – while baking apple-raspberry cobbler a la mode.
RJD2 shows off his massive collection of synths, drum machines, samples and organs, including a Hammond, a fantastic Yamaha CS-80, a wall of modular synths, vintage synths, home built gear, effects, amps, and a ton of other enviable items.
He also talks about how he acquires gear, and his approach to writing. I’d say this definitely puts Moby’s studio to shame in terms of plain synth coolness.
Beautiful. It’s a shame he listens to everything on Yamaha NS-10′s though.

lol, why is it a shame he listens to everything through ns-10s?
I’ve heard they are quite transparent.
Ri is that sarcasm? NS-10s are very non-flat compared to a lot of the pro-grade monitors out there RJD2 could afford (they’re one reason why we have the “disco smile” EQ curve in so much music). However, like any monitor, if you spend enough time on them you learn their little eccentricities and can mix some great stuff, plus since they’ve been used so often there are little well-known tricks of the trade on ns10′s that’ll help you handle your bass better and some other stuff. Cool instrument list though!
well it wasn’t sarcasm, now I see it was ignorance. I was not aware the ns-10s were not flat as I was under the impression they were? oh well, I know they were super popular at one time but they stopped manufacturing them because one of the materials for the tweeter was scarce.

RJ is simply amazing. We put on an interview with him over the Summer with Martha and it was great. The show incredible and the entire crowd was out of control. Nothing but love for RJD2!
