Creepy Robotic hand plays keyboard

Kitty Clark is an artist and technology geek extraordinare.  One day, she must have thought to herself: “What do you get when you combine a couple of fans, a remote-controlled car and a weird robotic halloween prop?”

What she ended up with was a very strange, erm…sound sculpture. The two fans command the remote control for an RC car.  Because these fans don’t oscillate in sync, the car moves in a jerky, irregular way to the left and right.  Attached to the top of the car is a creepy monster hand that has fingers that automatically bend up and down.

Kitty arranged this contraption in front of a keyboard, and the result is a frankenstein hand that plays the keyboard by itself in a very odd, eccentric and random way.

Check it out:

Now obviously this robot hand isn’t going to be putting on any piano recitals, but combined with the sound of the RC car crashing around and the fan noise, it’s got a strange, creepy ambient feel.  It just needs a dash of delay and reverb.

Some call it art… I call it freakin’ awesome.  This thing is just screaming to get another keyboard mounted underneath the one that’s there to give those other two fingers something to do!
