A message from the Bob Moog Foundation

Submitted by on December 18, 2009 – 2:50 pm No Comment

Dear Fellow Synth Aficionados,

Ponder for a minute what our musical lives would be like today if there’d been no Dr. Bob Moog . . .

His genius and innovative synthesizers & technology laid the foundation and pioneered so much of what we all hold dear as artists, have played for 40+ years, and take for granted today.

We all owe him an immense debt of gratitude.

Sadly, “Dr. Bob” was taken from the world prematurely several years ago; however, you can help preserve his legacy through The Bob Moog Foundation. The Foundation’s key goals are the creation of the “Moogseum” museum, the restoration & preservation of his extensive archives, and Youth Outreach education (kids — and adults, too — respond incredibly to electronic music). Helping to carry on Bob’s legacy, his daughter (Michelle) and widow (Ileana) are intently involved in the Foundation, along with a dedicated Board of Directors, advisors and volunteers.

The economic downturn of 2008/2009 has been challenging for fundraising. While Bob Moog left behind a great technological legacy, he unfortunately didn’t financially (and hence the Foundation is without an endowment). That’s why we REALLY need your help — right now (The Bob Moog Foundation is an independent entity and relies on third-party donations from people like you to operate and survive. Note: The Foundation is not affiliated with Moog Music, but they do provide some support.)

In the spirit of giving [back] in this Holiday Season, please consider a tax-deductible donation of whatever you can afford: $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000, or more. To donate on-line, go here. (If you owe taxes this year, better to donate the funds to the Foundation than to write a check to the IRS, etc. Consult with your tax advisor about your situation.)

For larger donations (or referrals to wealthy patrons you know) please contact me, or Michelle Moog-Koussa directly at the Foundation.

Please download the new Bob Moog Foundation brochure, including details about the planned Moogseum here.

Subscribe to the e-newsletter here.

You can also volunteer or contribute to our efforts in other ways by becoming a Moog Foundation “rockstar” here.

Thank you for your consideration and Happy Holidays to all! As we like to say:

Sincerely,
Bill Sautter, Board Member
