The MIDI suit

Sonalog is a company based out of Brighton, UK and they’ve put together the first commercially-available MIDI body suit. The ”Gypsy Motion Capture MIDI Controller” is an exoskeleton that is worn outside the clothes and works as a regular MIDI controller. You can trigger loops, sounds, program changes and send just about any MIDI event while you dance around on stage.

Here’s a video of the suit in action:

The suit costs 480 UKP, and you can order it online on their site where you can also find more information and more videos. I definitely think the MIDI suit an innovative step forward in MIDI controllers, and it’s great that it’s commercially available and not a one-off basement prototype… I still wouldn’t be caught dead wearing one though.

What do you think, awesome new MIDI controller or dork-in-a-box?
