When Kraftwerk was actually groovy

This video is taken from a 1971 live performance – it’s a version of Kraftwerk’s song “Truckstop Gondolero”. The difference between this song and their later album releases is truly remarkable.

The band I see in the video below is a groovy, psychedelic band that I could almost see doing a soundtrack to an Andy Warhol movie … well, maybe a stretch, but you get the idea.

Try to be patient (or skip ahead) – it takes at least 4 or 5 monites to get groovin’, but they definitely get there.

Who would have thought a flutist and violinist would pioneer the electronic music movement. Go figure.
