Devo reissue classic albums and play them live on tour

Submitted by on September 16, 2009 – 7:08 pm No Comment

New Wave legends and post-punk nerd rockers Devo have are the latest band to jump on the play-the-album-in-its-entirety-live bandwagon. Starting in November, the Akron, Ohio band is going to play concerts on two nights in each city, playing a different full album on each night.

On night one of each stop, they’ll play their debut album from 1978, “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!” all the way through. On the second night, they’ll play the album Freedom of Choice (1980). If you want crazy new-wave Devo, you go on one night, if you want weird experimental Devo, you go on the other concert. Of course you could always just see both shows.

Along with the tour, Devo is reissuing both albums on November 3. As part of their Deal with Warner (the same label that released the originals, both albums will be reissued on November 3 on deluxe CD and limited edition colored vinyl.

Here are the tour dates:

Devo were pioneers of the music video and early darlings of MTV. They are also working on a brand-new album. Wicked… err, I mean Whip it!
